PAY BILLS ONLINEThe Tax Collector is an elected public officer to whom taxes, together with excises, betterments, special assessments and certain other charges, added to and committed as taxes, are committed for collection. The Collector must make every reasonable effort to enforce collection using the powers available under Massachusetts General Laws.We now accept credit card and debit card payments in the office. The Town does not have a charge; however, our bank has a sliding scale fee. There is a $50.00 charge for turning off and $50.00 for turning on any water connection. Please contact the Water Department at 413-298-4067.Under Massachusetts General Tax Law, a taxpayer is responsible for payment of a property tax bill even if you do not receive a bill. Failure to receive a tax bill does not affect the validity of the bill or any subsequent interest and /or penalty due. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to contact the Collector’s office. The first half Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills are issued in the fall and the second half are always issued April1st. The first bill’s issue date will depend on when the tax rate is approved by the State. They are due within 30 days.Water/Sewer bills area issued twice a year. Water usage from Jan 1 – June 30 is billed in July and water usage from July 1 to December 31 is billed in January.Call 413-298-4170 ext 253 or stop in if you have any questions or concerns.
